I just find this curious, because I've never known Dave to be anything but friendly. Sure, as a fan, I pay for tickets and CD's. But the band pays me back a million times over by giving me music that takes me out of real life for a while and makes me feel good. I'd say that's pretty fair. And though Rustic is friendly with their fans and happy to hang out and talk, I think EXPECTING that from them, or any band, is a little presumptous. Just my two cents.

This conversation takes place among every group of fans of every band in the world. The great debate about what fans are "owed" by a band or band member in exchange for the ticket price. As far as I'm concerned, I pay for a rock show. When a Rustic show is over I've always felt I got my money's worth. If the guys take the time to talk to me after then that's a bonus. If I go to a restaurant and have a great meal, I don't expect the chef to come sit at my table after and discuss which seasonings I preferred. I've gotten the brush off from both Spencer and Dave at some point in the last 10 years but I've also had what seemed like unusually long conversations with both of them after gigs. It just depends on the night and their mood and I'd rather feel fortunate to have the chance to talk to them than resentful that they didn't take every opportunity to chat me up every time.
It's just an opinion though and you're certainly welcome to yours choppinbroccoli. I think it's pretty clear that there are/were personality conflicts between some of the guys in the band and that played a big role in Spencer's decision to leave. I think the majority of folks here wish him the best in whatever he does.
