That's my vote. All I see on the board is request for more old. There's gotta be others that feel the same way out there. This may be my first post, but I've followed the band from the beginning. Don't get me wrong, love to hear old stuff from time to time, but that's good enough for me. I'd rather be surprised. I'm also a huge fan of the progression I'm hearing in the unreleased material. It is light years beyond long division. Although harder to digest at first, I've really grown to like complex music. IE TOOL. To discover new sounds in a song that you've been listening to for months can be amazing. Rustic def has the potential to create that kind of material. Can't wait to hear Red afternoon on the new album. Maybe even Room 6? After hearing songs like this I really don't even think about hearing anything from Long Division at shows.

I understand what you're saying (and disagree). You're kind of contradicting yourself though, asking them to play more new songs, but put old songs that didn't even make the original release of the intended albums, on new records.

and who's to say they're not going on future albums??? Maybe I'm wrong with Red Afternoon but they've played it at many recent shows and it def sounds a bit reworked. Not to mention "kanibellagutter" referred to these tracks as demos.

I'm all for the band playing whatever set they feel like but I can dig the arguments for both new and old tunes. I will say that I'm excited that they're actually playing some of the tunes they put out as bonus tracks on the re-releases. They could have just tacked the mid-90's demos onto the end of the disc and left it at that, but they've taken the extra step in dusting off a few of them and re-working them for their live set and that's to be commended. On the flip side, while I have no knowledge of what the plans are for the new record, I'd be surprised if any of the re-release bonus tracks make it onto subsequent releases. Not because they're not awesome tunes on their own, but because I think they really represent the time in which they were written, at least to the band. Plus, at the rate the guys seem to be writing new material it may just come down to not having room for them. That's not to say, however, that I can't see them completely re-working one of those tunes and putting out an "updated" version sometime down the line. Especially if they start to really dig how it sounds live. Only time will tell I guess. In all honesty, my real vote on the new/old debate is longer sets Welcome to the board cbradbury14.

I would love to have the new version of Red Afternoon on the new album. I know its a slim chance, but maybe it could be like HWP?

Less or more, I'd be satisfied if they just rotated the oldies they play better. It would be nice to go into a show having no idea which oldie(s) may get dropped. I can't imagine it would be too hard to brush up on a different oldie every now and then to have it in their back pocket to pull out when needed.

I agree KevBag... it'd be interesting to show up at a show, knowing they'll drop an oldie.. but which one??
