Rustic Overtones decided to allow fans to download "Last Nights Band" for free! They have it on their MySpace page, but I also wanted to add it to my archive. Message from Spence: "Last Night's Band" is a post 'Rooms By The Hour' track that we recorded with Jonathan Wyman back in 1998. We like the recording, but didn't feel like it fit the new record's playlist. Jon Roods though you all ought to have it anyway. Personally, I think the song is pretty good but isn't their best. It's not that it's bad per se, but I think it's in the bottom half of their body of work. I'm really impressed with most of the other stuff in the sampler, though, and think that Troublesome stacks up with their best songs.

I'm bummed about this not showing up on the new album - the clip in the first sampler sounded very good to me... I'm sucker for their older stuff though. I'm just glad we get a full length studio recording of this. Kudos to them for releasing it anyways - any chance we can get a listen to any other unreleased stuff (Secret Song, Headphones, etc.)?

Yeah, how about headphones?? Not to take anything away from PSC, but I always likes that song a lot better with the horn section.

I actually like the PSC version of Headphones better but I do really dig the horn part, it'd be a shame for them to never get it studio recorded. Of course, I thought the horns added a lot to Rock Singer too, but I think the PSC treatment suits the song better, so what do I know?

I would guess that Headphones got recorded in the studio... the only recording of it that I have from Rustic they introduce by describing the fact that they have a new album in the works. As a few of you said... the PSC version was alright, but, the horn section on Headphones is awesome... if it got recorded in a studio, please give us access to it... please!

I liked Rock Singer by PSC better, too, but it would be cool as hell to hear a Rustic studio version.
