This is such an incredibly tough question for me because I think that just about all of these songs are brilliant, and probably on any one day I might pick one over another. However, I wanted to hear what you guys felt about this, especially since I kinda feel the forum's been a little slow lately. By the way, I added both "Light at the End" and "Happy" because I suppose that the argument that "Light at the End" is the real closer and "Happy" is just an afterthought/epilogue is just as valid as the idea that the true closer is in fact Happy.
Personally, it came down sooo sooo close down to Pop Trash and Iron Boots for me, but I gave Iron Boots the tiny tiny edge today, although on a different day I might have voted Pop Trash. What about you guys?

I'm going to go Pop Trash because of three reasons...
1) The unstoppable organ groove throughout. 2) The great Zoidis solo - you can practically sing it as a melody and it would be a great song on it's own. 3) Tony's drum fill leading into the solo that overshoots the "1" by so much, you feel like it can't possibly be what he meant to do... it just can't... no way... but by the end of the fill, you're like "oh, my god... what a fill..."

I have to say that I agree it was hard to make a choice, but I know that "Happy" just puts an answer to how I think we all feel that Rustic is back together.
"Light at the End" would be the closer of the album seeing that the guys had been doing "Happy" since at least 1999. I don't feel it was an afterthought/epilogue it's just how the band feels right now. A tiny little bit of real from the band.

i donno, kevbag (i'd use a quote thingy, but i've never been able to figure out how to do that), i think that tony knew he meant to do that fill, cause he is just so amazing. i know exactly what you mean, it's one of my favorite drum fills of all time, and eveyr time i hear it, it blows my mind. pop trash gets my vote.

I went with Happy.
I've only been able to pick up Viva Nueva and LATE, so while I know the other songs, they haven't been listened to as albums, as a whole. Happy is weird.. I'm picking it for a few reasons - it's super mellow, some of the others get me fired up. And I absolutely love those sort of songs, way more than Happy in fact, but I listen to it every time through the disc. I am happy after listening to the album, and the song itself, its very heartfelt and I relate to it and feel all warm and fuzzy. Thinking of my own friends, as well as appreciating rustic and the fact they're back tops it off, as a great closer.

Happy. No contest. I was driving home from seeing them again for the first time in, what, 7 years? Listening to the new album... And I was rather disappointed that they hadn't included Happy. Until I hit the hidden track... I'm pathetic, but I'll admit I actually cried.

Great Poll
This is the second poll where I've voted mostly to give something at least 1 vote. I just couldn't stand to see "Light at the End" at zero. It came down to LATE vs. Iron Boots and I feel like my absolute love for Iron Boots as a song clouds my judgement in terms of picking the best closer. Both are amazing and overall I think there's no way to compete with Iron Boots (at any live show every time Dave launches in to "It's the Distortion..." I get really happy and borderline emotional) but the first time I heard the LATE album all the way through (before Happy started in) I was awestruck by how great LATE (the song) was. I actually listened to it four times before I let it play through to Happy. Like araungzeb said though, ask me tomorrow and I'll probably be backing Iron Boots 100%.

I CALL A DO OVER!!!!!!!
I knew something didn't look right. I'm not sure if you call these albums, but I do. Both of these albums have closer songs that are on no other albums.
MY Dirt (released by ripchord records 1996) - Darryl Volume Up (released by Arista 1999 Promo) - No More Noyes
I change my choice to Darryl. Hands down a great finishing album song. Plus it has Dave Gutter's language in it. Great tribute to the phase Rustic is in right now. Great tempo changes and horns. Yup, I change my choice to Darryl

Yeah, sorry that I didn't include the EPs, especially after I included both "Light at the End" and "Happy" as seperate choices. It's kind of too late to go back it change it now, so sorry Ahhh, where's the love for Iron Boots?!? I mean, I know that all of their closers are amazing and that its an impossibly hard question for most, but come on! Iron Boots is very probably my favorite song by them, and I just can't believe it only has one vote (me). Come on, there have to be other Iron Boots lovers out there.....

I do love Iron Boots, but the emotional draw of Happy won out.

Great question and a truly difficult one at that. One part of me says "juice" taking me back to the early nineties, but I can't commit.
"Happy" brings the feelings of how stoked I'am they are back, but the song is not long.
I reluctantly give the nod to "pop trash" because of Ryan killing it on sax. My favorite performance of "pop trash" was their first state theatre show. The lighting was perfect, they were on it. I loved how they each left the stage one by one leaving Ryan to shine. I have the set list for that show some where. Anyone else there that night? Thinking 94 or 95?

It's funny that I wa scrolling looking for the correction on Volume Up as I was listening to No More Noyes. I have to suggest a DQ for Volume Up as it was just the college radio release... I would put in a vote for that(and still might) but happy is hard to pass up, as is iron boots, then again, light is mint too... Why, WHY, Why must this be so hard?!!?!?!?
