I keep hearing all this talk about Paranoid Social Club and As Fast As, and even though that's great and both are good bands, I think that everyone's overlooking something.... Tony's solo album! It's amazing! Back before I became the rabid Rustic Overtones fan that I am and only had access to Viva Nueva, I actually used to like it more than regular Overtones. Even though that might be overdoing it a bit, its still an excellent album. "Destination" and "Brighter Days" are some of my favorite R/B songs ever, and "Your Favorite Song," "Departure" and "Shoulder to Lean On" are just great. You can really see that he has a large influence on the Rustic Overtones' sound from this solo material, and I think that its such a shame that he never sat down and recorded his second album, even though he apparantly had enough material for three more albums. So noting the negligence that his material's been subject to, I took it upon myself to create this thread. Does anyone else like Tony's stuff as much as I do? Has anyone else even heard it?

I came back to Maine (which I now live) after my father passed and stumbled upon Destination at bull moose. I had followed Rustic for a long time prior to their split and had no idea about Tony's project. Without any expectation or clue on what genre of music I was purchasing, I was blown away. I found the album incredible and inspirational with it's in part gospel feel. It helped me through the loss of my father at that time in my life and recently with the loss of my mother. My wife and I love the album (our first dance at our wedding was to "charity"), and if we could only have a few albums to our possession it would be one of them. I highly recommend the album. Recently I was able to find a couple used copies at bull moose for some friends who have only recently become fans, if you don't have it you should.

I caught Tony's show for the first time back in '03 at the Rocktopus record release for "Something Fierce" at the State Theater. I had heard he was doing his own thing but had no clue exactly what sound he was going for. I was really impressed with his set and picked up his album on my way out. I loved the vibe and it's still a cd I'll throw in from time to time in chill out situations. I too really wish he had taken the time to get his followup done, especially since I never had the chance to catch another show. I did pick up the " Beautiful Locals" album partly because he does a great cover of Heart Full of Heartache by The Troubles, check it out if you haven't heard it ($6 at CDBaby, well worth it).

Love his stuff... My favorite song is "Departure". It gives me chills when he sings, "I may not be a revolutionary, but whatever I choose to be I control my own destiny." I really don't know the inside nature of the original break up of the 'Tones, but that line spells it out pretty clearly for me - especially with him putting out a stripped down R&B album right after Viva Nueva. I always preferred McNaboe to PSC or Rocktopus - (Lettuce and Soullive kill both of those projects) but I haven't heard any other side projects from members, so I can't comment.

the album is perfection ... and i couldnt be happier that he is just about to release his second album ..i didnt think that he would ever record again.... there isnt anyone else out there that has the sound he does .. he has that whole R&B love thing down pat ... .i just had the pleasure of seeing him @ the Big Easy and it was all that i thought it would be .. with one exception .. it was too short ...my only hope is that he feels comfortable enough away from the drums... and that we have many opportunties to see him again ...
