Forgive me for being a bit anxious about this "signing," but that was the death knell last time around. Hope it goes better for them this time.

I thought it was kinda wierd because hadn't Dave said he didn't want to do anything real big because he wanted to be able to be around his daugher? I also heard that he said he would never sell the meat market, either, though.

I also heard that he said he would never sell the meat market, either, though. All things being equal. I really do hope these guys get signed again. I hope Arista isn't in the cards this time; that was the knell. I think the guys are older and wiser and know better, more than ever, of how to keep things together. Also, I thought Dave's dad still owned the meat market. Kind of hard to sell something that you don't own.

I really thought they would get a contract offer after the reunion news and especially when they continued to play shows after the summer ended. How much of a future could the band have without signing a label?
With that being said, how will Spencer handle the duties of AFA and Rustic?

i've heard something to the extent that AFAcwas signed by octone at the same time as a ton of other bands, and the company, having done this, can only guarantee each band an album every as much as three to four years.

Haven't heard anything about being signed except this topic and the rocklikewar front page. Been checking the rustic myspace pretty much daily, hasn't been changed in a long time. Unfortunately while I help out on r-o.com I don't have any insider info or contacts.. haha. My curiosity is definitely piqued.

Word on "the street", is that they signed a distribution deal with a smaller record company to help get LATE out to the masses. Basically, the record company gets a (relatively) minor share of the profits and the guys get to use the company's connections to get the word out about the album and get copies in stores. The important part being that the record company has no creative control on the content. Seems like a smart move to me if this is indeed the case, but I'm sure all will be revealed in time.

New word on the streets......
I think that the record label is a done deal as a 50 / 50 split. Like Darek said. I also heard that they are definitely sticking around. I heard that Rustic / record label is looking for a tour for them to open on. Nothing is definite, but they are looking for a headlining band that fits Rustic. So....... The tour will go on

I hope you're right Nuphus. I didn't truly get into Rustic until around May of '02...decidedly inconvenient for me since I never got to see them live until this summer. I got to see them 3 times and the shows were far and away the best I had ever been to. Not even close. And boy was it worth the wait. After obsessing over the band for the past 5 years, collecting old live shows, listening to all their albums...I just can't get enough. I'm really pulling for them to stick around for good. Well thats my rant for a while, I'm sure others feel the same way.

Farley, that sounds almost exactly like my story, I feel your pain (though not so painful anymore!)
I am happy for the guys, hopefully they find what they're looking for in a deal.

Yes! This is all amazing news. It really sounds like they're doing this all correct this time.
By the way, has anyone heard if Long Division is being released on this new deal, or independently?
