I can't wait! It's going to be so rad to finally have some DVD quality Rustic footage (that's right, rad). Here is the youtube version of the teaser. And it's awesome that they're listening to all the people who wanted to see LD get re-released, they're really doing things the right way this time around. It's killing me that the computers here at work don't have any speakers and play back video like it's crappy stop-motion. I'm finally out of here in 15 minutes, can't wait to finally watch the teaser for real.

what was going on in the end when they were getting booed off stage, having shit thrown at them, taunting the crowd, while some dude came in rapping? that was crazy.

Was that the infamous performance that got them dropped by Arista?

I believe it was a University of Maine at Orono show.. It was one of the UMaine's anyway, I think. The students just reacted horribly, and you saw the result there. Several fights broke out among RO fans and the kids in the crowd, too. Some girl got hit in the head and had to go to the hospital, etc. My memory is hazy on the details but it was a sad day. If I'm remembering right, they were opening for a rap group who didn't fit very well with their style, but like I said, my memory sucks.
There wasn't really a particular performance that seperated them from Arista.. they were looking for a way out, at the end. Not my position to air old dirty laundry though. lol
This DVD is looking pretty damn hot, and I'm glad I'll be able to get my hands on Long Division again without having to fork over 50 bucks.

Ah, you know better than I would. The performance I was thinking of was mentioned in this article: www-tech.mit.edu/V121/N51/rusticint.51a.html"DG: Tommy Boy is perfect. We once shared a relationship with a label called Arista ... we played this big conference that was like, showcasing all these bands. So it’s the end of a four day thing, mostly R&B, and we played the nastiest set we possibly could. For ten minutes we were just like fireworks. JR: We got yelled at by Clive Davis [former head of Arista Records, now leader of J Records]. DG: They hated it. We did take the opportunity to sign to a major label. We’re like, “Well these guys have so much money they’ll put us in the top five, they’ll just pay people off. So let’s make the most weird, experimental pop music that we can possibly make.” I don’t know what we thought we were trying to do. Arista was just like, “You guys, we thought you were going to sound like the Dave Matthews Band. Now you guys sound like Madonna and Slayer.”"

I'd love so see them do a big DVD release party at some local theater or some such thing, but "In Theaters" is something I can see them just throwing in there to make it seem more like a real trailer. You never know though, just one more reason spring can't come soon enough.

Happened to check out the Flat Foot Films Webiste the other day and meant to post this. I guess I was wrong to second guess the "In Theaters" thing: We are currently working on a full length feature with the Rustic Overtones. You can view their teaser in the media section. The Documentarty will be featured in local cinemas around Portland Maine sometime next year.I'm hoping they might extend that outside of Maine as well. I could see The Roxy in Burlington hosting a showing.

I had a rumor that they we're originally planning to re-release all the previous material over time. I was amazed once upon a time to find brand-new copies of shish boom bam and long division at the Lewiston Bull Moose after they had opened their warehouse store. I was stoked because my previous versions of the albums were scratched all to hell. . . anyway it would be nice for everyone else who has tried forever to get these albums.

There's been no new word that I'm aware of. Somebody needs to ask the guys at one of the shows this month and let us know what you hear.

I asked Dave last night, he only commented briefly but said it was coming along, somewhat slowly though as they're doing it themselves. He added that they've shot over 300 hours of footage

Talked with Dave during the day of the Providence show, got pretty much the same answer as Jeff. He says every time they get a good solid chunk, they find hours more footage to try and pick from. They are trying hard to have it be a complete retrospective of the band, early years to today.

Just read that interview up there....
DG: We got 120 minutes for our last video for “C’mon,” and we’re in heavy rotation on Muchmusic, which is Canadian MTV.
SA: It’s like the round bacon of music.
LMAO!!!!!!!!!!

Nice! It looks like it contains some of the footage that they played before the final concert at the state theatre. I was hoping that sometime that would be released.

I forgot to read this thread earlier after reading the news about Spence.. just tried to watch this and it seems to have been taken down, though my internet has been wonky this evening. Anyone still able to view it?
Edit: Nevermind, did a cache refresh and it's playing now.

I'm sorry to all the folks who check this thinking there might be actual news, but I was hoping that the next time somebody gets face time with the guys, or one of them happens to stop in here, we might be able to get an update or proof of life on the DVD. I fear that this project may have died long ago but it crossed my mind the other day and I'd still love to see it happen. Here's hoping.

I asked Dave about this a little while ago, in Manchester maybe. He said they are waiting for an ending, that there was no ending. Took it to mean that as the band rolls on, the DVD waits. Or he was just B.S.in’ me. Who knows.
