Were there people video taping the show? The live stream was only audio and no video. If there is a video I will find it.
I just e-mailed MPBN to find out if they recorded the VIP set at Silver St. and to see if the rumor of a video is true and to see if they'll be making both available.

Awesome man, thanks for uploading. If nothing else this will hold those of us who didn't hear it over until they get it up on the MPBN site. Again, great work, can't wait until it finishes downloading.
meader63, as far as I know the suggestion that there would be video available was a leap that we made on our own, I don't think it was filmed but maybe somebody who was there can confirm or deny the presence of cameras.

. Again, great work, can't wait until it finishes downloading. Sorry I was lazy, but if MPBN is going to make the show available it didn't make sense to put the extra work in. I know "STILL DOWNLOADING", but I just listened to the whole thing through again and I think it came out great; minus the glitches here and there. I love the guitar solo on Feast and the Horns almost make me cry on Baby Blue. Aw, Fuck it the whole show is off the hook. Can't wait for the unglitched version from MPBN.

Listening now, it sounds frickin' great. Don't worry about the little cut outs here and there, or the two long tracks, dosn't make a bit of difference to me. If they uploaded it cut on on MPBN then great, if not I'll chop it up at some point if need be, but this is just fine for me. I just hope they get the afterparty up as well. I shot them an email about it, we'll see what they say.

Just posted on the MPBN site: Audio from Rare Acoustic Performance Will Be Available Here Shortly MPBN was a proud sponsorof a rare acoustic performance by Maine own Rustic Overtones along with nearly a dozen student musicians on December 29th, 2007 at the Waterville Opera House, a concert that was digitally recorded and which will be made available here later today as a downloadable podcast.

I'm such a geek. With this radio broadcast and the threads about other places for Rustic to play I just had to e-mail. I hope the rest of you New Englanders (those at heart too) e-mail them. Here's what I sent. Thoughts on bringing young local musicians togetherþ From:- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Sent: Sun 12/30/07 5:16 PM To: education@flynncenter.org Hello, I'm a Flynn contributor and I just experienced something of an amazement last night December 29th, 2007. It brought me back to the days of Trey Anastasio bringing local middle school jazz players to the Main Stage. I remember a concert he put on at the Flynn in the early 2000's that amazed me of how talented the kids were. Well, last night I was amazed once again by the Rustic Overtones. They took some local Central Maine kids and brought them to the main stage. The concert was held at the Waterville Opera House in Waterville, Me. It was broadcasted live on MPBN. My thoughts in sending you this e-mail is that the Rustic Overtones are New Englanders; which makes them long distance locals and they support their music scene at all levels. I think it would be great of the Flynn to extend a hand to ask Rustic to consider doing a similar show at the Flynn or just extend a hand to Rustic to perform at the Flynn. I think that if you just give a listen to the links below you'll find that Rustic exemplifies music as a whole and the beliefs that the Flynn has; that music is meant to be experienced. Ok, so here's the MPBN file cut down into tracks. This was a very quick chop job since I have somewhere to be in about 20 minutes, but I think it's still fine. Let me know if any file names are wrong or anything like that so I can fix them and re-upload later on. Such a great show and I agree with Nuphus, it'd be great to see something like this at the Flynn but if this has to be a once in a lifetime sort of thing, that's fine, this show was killer.

The show was absolutely killer. Some side notes. One moment during "happy" spencer gave Dave an exaggerated squint and they both shared a smile. Kind of summarized the whole feeling of the night. They threw fuzzy stuffed animal bunnies into the crowd. Dave had the head of a stuffed bunny on a stick attached to his mic stand. During LATE he took it off the mic stand and was turning it up high for "all things will turn around" . Later on at the speak easy he was having people kiss the bunny purchased at good will. It was uncanny seeing them at two very special yet very different shows. The speak easy only holds 125 people according to the door man, and it wasn't hard to believe. The width of the place was reminiscent of a mobile home. It was amazing they could all fit with the additional horns and strings. The entire show was a highlight, but if I had to pick a few special moments.....one would be hearing Freddie and for my first time live smokashir. During freddie Spencer elected to be a fan and go nuts in the crowd. Before leaving I mentioned to Dave it was like a late Christmas present to have two special shows on one day and thank you. He just expressed that it was so much fun. It truly was a blast. Thank you for efforts on recording and making it accessible to us all. All this live ro in my ipod makes life all the more sweeter.
Also it did appear to be recorded on video. It appeared to be the same dude I have seen at other shows, particularly the initial summer reunion. My guess he is the one putting together the dvd, so video is a real possibility yall. HOPEFULLY.

Cake, Awesome to hear that the whole entire set of musicians (i.e. all 18) made it to the Speakeasy. Freddie and Smoke must have been awesome to hear acoustic with the whole line-up. Did you happen to hear or see if MPBN was recording the show? I hope they did and upload it to the site.
Thanks for the update

Is your tracklisting correct in the zip file? It sounds out of order. Just wondering before I tag all this in the wrong order. Should I follow the order written in thet super long play by play post? Anyway - thanks for the up. Great freaking show.

If you import them to iTunes they should go to the correct order and display all the info. Or organize them in the folder by track. The zip just auto-ordered them in Alphabetical.

Beekeeper precedes Man Without a Mouth correct? Holly shit you're right!. And I was going to give up crack for lent. I guess I should make it my New Year's Revolution. Nice catch on that one 4K. I guess I wasn't really paying attention, because I was geeking out on the whole acoustic show and recording.

I really hope MPBN got the after show as well as they suggested. This is just an update. I sent MPBN an e-mail and this is their response: Dear Mr xxxxxxxxxxxxx: Thank you for contacting the Maine Public Broadcasting Network and for your complimentary remarks. We were able to record a portion of the after-concert gig which will soon be available on our website. The show was indeed videotaped, but not by MPBN; that was the work of an independent crew producing a documentary on the band. The Opera House may be able to provide you with more information. You can listen to the concert, as well as a portion of the after-concert gig, on our website: www.mpbn.net/press/mpbn_rustic_overtones.htmlThanks again for contacting MPBN. Sincerely, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Maine Public Broadcasting Network xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Lewiston, ME 04240 Phone: xxxxxxxxxxx www.mpbn.net

I got the same email back and was just about to post it. Maybe I'm blind, but I don't see any mention of the after-concert gig on that link they sent us and I can't find it anywhere else on the site??

I can't say I was amazed that it was played, but very happy and pleasantly surprised. I was thinking all along after the first Asylum show I saw that they should play it as an intro to Man With..... as they had the strings and all, it was a perfect fit. But just never happened till then.
I agree on the amazingly played for sure.

Got an email back from Lou Morin, the guy who recorded the Opera House show, regarding the Speak Easy gig after I replied to the note both Nuphus and myself got saying that I couldn't find any audio from the Speak Easy on the MPBN site:
Hi Darek:
I'm sorry you got the wrong information from my colleagure here at MPBN, Maurice Doyon. I was the guy at the Speak Easy doing the recording last Saturday. There is currently no audio posted from the Speak Easy gig that Rustic Overtones played on Saturday night. If I post anything at all from that gig, it won't be a whole lot, although if I do I will let you know.
Allow me to explain: When Marie Morsehead was playing at the Speak Easy (before Rustic Overtones), I got great stereo audio from her performance since it was just her voice and a guitar and both were going through the soundboard, and so I was able to take a nice clean feed directly off the board. Unfortunately for the Rustic Overtones portion of the show, I could not take the sound off the board, since only the vocals were going through it and I would not have picked up any instruments, and I had to resort to literally holding a microphone in my hand over my head (perhaps you saw me there). The sound quality is in mono and isn't nearly as good as the audio from Marie's set. Not only that but my 1 gigabyte soundcard filled up after only 5 songs (I missed the last three, which were the best of the night). And on two of those songs that segue right together with no break between them ("C'Mon" into "Gas on Skin") someone in the crowd talked directly into the microphone as I was holding it, rendering those two songs unuseable online.
So what I'll likely end up doing is posting one or two songs from both Rustic Overtones and Marie Moreshead. I'll be sure to drop you an email when I do. Might be a couple of days yet..
Lou Morin

Just finished listening and watching it. The audio on this video has to be one of the best I've heard from an innocent bystander. Wished I could have seen everything on the stage, but nice to see the guys all showing their talents to play other instruments that we as concert goers don't normally get to see them play. I'd rate this as one of if not the top video of a Rustic concert song in the Youtube world.

I shot the taper a youtube message to ask if he/she had anything else from the show.
