"Official" track listing from [ftp=http://www.bullmoose.com/rel/v2_home.php?storenr=258&deptnr=124]Bullmoose.com[/ftp]: 1. The Calm 2. Rock Like War 3. Dear Mr. President 4. Troublesome 5. Hardest Way Possible 6. Black Leather Bag 7. Oxygen 8. Carsick 9. Carnival 10. Light At The End Your thoughts? I would honestly pay the $15 for Carsick and Carnival alone, but I am bummed that Happy didn't make it and I would have liked to see 12-15 tracks, but that's just me being greedy I guess.

Woo! Can't wait! That is odd to me, since they already had more tracks recorded! They could have just added Last Nights Band, and Happy, to make it at least a 12 track album. However, I am happy with the track listing

I'm curious as to why they felt they needed to include Hardest Way Possible

I'm curious as to why they felt they needed to include Hardest Way Possible I'm with ya. I'd trade yet another version of HWP for Happy any day. That said, overall I'm pleased with the tracks they chose to include. Plus, maybe they're saving Happy for the next album.

I'm still hoping they'll put Happy up on Myspace like they did for Last Nights Band, and I'm totally with ya'll on HWP. Not that it's not a great song, but why burn the new album slot with a cut they've already recorded multiple versions of. I imagine there must be some significance, or maybe it's just an all time favorite of theirs.

I too was bummed not to see Happy anywhere on the tracklist but like darek said maybe they'll put it up on Myspace for us. Is that the final artwork for the album? It looks a little rough around the edges if you ask me. What do you guys think?

Is that the final artwork for the album? It looks a little rough around the edges if you ask me. That's what they have on the Bullmoose pre-order page so I'd guess that it probably is, but who knows for sure. I thought they might use that pencil drawing that showed up on their myspace a couple weeks ago. I actually rather like this. It is rough, but it has a grass roots feel to it that I think suits this release pretty well. It could easily just be a concept drawing though.

Haha, gotta love how they took it upon themselves to record a THIRD version of HWP. I hope it becomes a running gag and that they put a version on every album from now on. I love the sting section in the new version, perhaps a death-metal version will be on the next one?

Hardest Way Possible its the favorite song among the mothers who gave birth to all the Overtones!
That's why they always record new versions of it, because their mommies love it! it's true too!

Spencer made mention of having a million hardest way possible recordings, including this one and another with mellotron on it. You can tell it is an old recording because Dave's voice is a lot smoother than more current recordings. I wonder if this new one has that insane high note like viva nueva hah.
No Happy makes me...sad....
But I'm stoked none the less. Should be fricken sweet. Carnival. Finally.

* Of course, I don't know anything for a fact, but that's what I gather about HWP.

I would have liked more tracks, and some Happy, but still I'm stoked about this.

I predict Happy will by a "hidden" track at the end of the album.

I predict Happy will by a "hidden" track at the end of the album. Or maybe their iTunes exclusive bonus track.

more tracks woulda been cool, dave said they recorded like 70 songs for viva nueva... WHERE ARE THEY DAVE? where's red afternoon or break the news? plus i heard PSC do Dear Mr. President, which was cool but as some random dude in the crowd yelled out "OK WE GET IT, BUSH SUCKS. JOIN THE CLUB. LET'S ROCK, FOR CHRISSAKES!!!" granted, the guy spent the next ten minutes requesting "beerfest".

Am I the only one only counting 9 songs on the album sampler? I wonder if "The Calm" is a "It's The Beat" style intro or what.
The number of tracks alone may look weak, but think, Led Zeppelin IV only has 8 tracks on it. John Coltrane's A Love Supreme only has 4! Once we get the album in context, I'm sure we'll be more than satisfied. I think one of Rustic's strengths is putting together complete, satisfying albums as a whole. It'll be interesting to see how they manage to get songs recorded over the span of their career to fit together and flow. The count down is on! The 1 week mark looms....

i wish more bands could have the perrogative to make an album with less than ten songs. they aren't allowed to... labels beleive albums will only sell if it looks like consumers see more bang for their buck. coltrane, zeppelin, and [and and from back then] only put so many songs on cause that's all you could fit on vinyl without having to make it a double album. i like the dea of listeneing to 7 incredble tracks. although rustic i'm fairly certain could make twenty of those. i just think it's funny that these days a band a will put out an album with seven songs and it is considered an EP.
