Yes, we all know that the Rustic Overtones are amazing, but what are some of your favorite other bands? My other five favorites are U2, Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Coldplay, and Smashing Pumpkins. You?

I'm into all sorts of random stuff. Love Paranoid Social Club (for obvious reasons) and the 2 Skinnee J's but I'm also into Jason Mraz, Mike Doughty, Ben Folds and the like. I'm also an old hip-hop head so I listen to a fair amount of Jay-Z, Mos Def, Common etc. For more details, there's aways my last.fm page.

For some local stuff I really like Cambiata too, but also Cosades and Rachel Griffin.
I'm a pretty big fan of Michael Franti, G Love and Special Sauce and Paolo Conte, too!

Ever since he went out on his own, I've loved almost everything that Spencer has done, from the Popsicko to As Fast As and everything in between.

Besides Rustic Overtones, PSC, and AFA/Rocktopus/Popsicko, my iPod is filled with a wide variety of stuff. I own a disproportionate amount of Beastie Boys, Johnny Cash, anything with Chris Cornell or Scott Weiland in it, Nirvana, Days of the New, Mike Doughty/Soul Coughing, Mighty Mighty BossToneS, Megadeth, GNR, Poison, and the Pixies.

I have heard about this Popsicko album a few times but Ive never seen it anywhere. Is there just one, before Rocktopus i assume?
Bands that I like other than RO side projects and real common stuff: Son Volt, Gruvis Malt, Hot Buttered Rum, Zox, Bela Fleck, Jabe (Beyer), Wood Brothers/MM&W. I listen to pretty much anything other than rap and pop country

Frankenstein Presents the Popsicko vol. 1 does indeed exist. It's the only one I know of, and yes, it was before Rocktopus. Here's a neat little link: www.portlandphoenix.com/archive/music/00/10/13/albee.html...and yay for Gruvis Malt! I'm so excited Gavin Castleton is opening on the 29th!

I was lucky enough to find a copy of The Popsicko about a year ago, and I have seen one since then, so they are out there, if rarely. The disc I can't find anywhere is the first As Fast As album, the one with Jenny Better, All These Words, etc. Anybody ever come across one?

There are no new copies I think, last time I saw a new copy was in a Borders like a year ago. Good luck finding one though, I think I need to get a new one, mines abit scratched up.
And I found my copy of The Popsicko like 2 years ago used at bull moose, it pops in there occasionally so keep a look out for it, because its the best Albee project, in my opinion anyways.

I got my copy of the Popsicko straight from Spencer himself back when the first Rocktopus album was released. I had pre-ordered the Rocktopus album, but something got messed up with my order. When I emailed them about it to see what was up, Spencer asked for my address and said he'd fix it. A few days later, a package showed up containing a handwritten note from Mr. Albee himself, my fixed order, a bunch of Rocktopus stickers, and a copy of the Popsicko.
Besides being awesome musicians, these guys are just plain nice people.

no one has mentioned lettuce, zoidis's other band... in my opinion you cant get tighter or funkier than that fucking band. everyone in it is a master funktician. if you like funk, i STRONGLY reccomend that you pick up their "live in tokyo" cd. as for other bands, i mostly listen to old funk and soul (bill withers, aretha, stevie wonder, prince, tower of power, michael jackson), smooth jazz pop (steely dan, michael mcdonald, hall & oates), jazz (keith jarrett, herbie hancock), hip hop (mf doom, redman, ghostface), and newer misc rock pop and soul (ben folds, tegan & sara, d'angelo, amy winehouse, spoon, etc). lots of stuff. but seriously. listen to LETTUCE!
