I had to go with Long Division, but I do think that My Dirt is pure, concentrated goodness. If My Dirt was a full-length album, and maintained the level of quality it currently has across another 8-10 songs, I think that would be their best one hands down. I can listen to either album from end-to-end without skipping a song, but My Dirt leaves me feeling like there should have been more.

I thought this was somewhat tough, I generally don't ever skip their tracks. I put all of the Rustic tracks I had onto one mp3 disc and listened end to end the other day when I had a long drive by myself!

Honestly, I voted for Rooms simply to break up the zeros. LD is such an amazing album. I'm also with Rusty on My Dirt being great for what it is and that as a full length album it probably would have been right up there with Long Division.

As I mentioned in the "Tracklisting" thread, I believe one of Rustic's greatest strengths is putting together complete, satisfying albums. I believe I read an interview once where they mentioned their efforts to make every new album sound completely different from the last. I love it when you can look at a band's whole career and track their growth and their creativity. So from that point, I can't vote for any because they're all important pieces of a greater puzzle (hopefully one that is not completed as of this Tuesday.) I'm least acquainted with Shishboombam and My Dirt, though some of my favorite songs are on those. Brand New Friend! Daryll! My band has covered Fish in a bucket many times...Long Division hits hard consistantly. By the time you get to "Slowly" you actually need something to slow you down. Rooms is a collection of wonderful songs, but always it has a very dry quality to it, which seems to actually make the album feel a lot more "live". This album also seems to have alot less ska elements on it; You can see that they're branching out more and more, twisting genres around. Then there's Viva Nueva, the ultimate space pop rock album with a twist of groove. Viva Nueva is a nostalgic favorite for me because it really was my proper introduction to Rustic. I had heard Rustic before, but when my brother came home with Viva Nueva and Radiohead's Amnesiac (Remember?! Released on the same day!) I could actually sit down a figure it all out.
I'm long winded tonight. I dropped a bottle whilst acting like a jerk and dancing to Rooms by the Hour once. It shattered and that was sad. I'll vote for Viva just to live that memory down.

Rooms, its the album that got me into them. Also the only album I actually own of theres. I want more of the albums, but they are so hard to find. But I have lots of live stuff that keeps me going.

Gotta go with Rooms. I love LD, but some of the songs on it annoy me after a while. Rooms is the only album I can listen to over and over again straight through and not get sick of it.

I think Rooms is the best album in terms of quality sound, but I'm going with Viva here for selfish reasons. Viva was my first Rustic Album I owned (still trying to get my hands on the elusive Shish). It was at a time when I was going to College and doing all the proverbial learning about myself and figuring out what I'm about. the words of Viva are empowering. I love every single song on the track (no songs I skip, which is not the case for any of the other albums. I'm also not a fan of Black Leather Bag on the new one). I felt empowered living to Viva on my long car rides to Ithaca New York. Plus, some great tunes that Rustic never plays live. You never hear Baby Blue, Valentines Day Massacre and Hitman, but they're all terrific songs.
Plus, lets face it, what pumps you up more than Combustible? that song alone is worth the price of admission.

Uh..... where's light at the end? If not Light at the End, then I guess I'll go with Rooms by the Hour. "Iron Boots" is my all-time favorite Rustics Song, and "Feast or Famine," "History Crush" and "Girl Germs" are also amazing. Plus, got to love the two minute trombone solo in "Pink Belly".....

it all depends on my mood. Shish makes me wanna jump and jive. Long makes me want to continue dancing. Rooms make me want to chill with a few brews. Viva has a good amount of everything. if i had to pick only one to take on an island, it would have to be long Division because it was what hooked me in 1996. There are no bad albums. personally, i just load all my Rustic CDs on my ipod along with the May 11th, 2002 show and all the rare live tracks people are nice enough to share online and i consider myself one lucky son of a bitch.

Like I said above, My Dirt is pure, concentrated goodness. Eight more songs like those, and it would have beat the other albums guaranteed.

Alright, I voted for My Dirt. Not because it had no votes, but because evey time I listen to it, I want to play it over and over and over and..... Don't get me wrong, I love all the others, but My Dirt is the only one that makes me want to do that
