i like but dont like how they made track 1 like 10 seconds... if the album had like 15 songs on it, it would be cool.. but i dont like how track one is so short considering its only a "11 song CD" with "10 songs" on it.
But don't get me wrong, the rest of the album i SICK!

Yeah, I'm not quite sure what the point of that one is. It's not even a song. Beekeeper on the Viva Nueva album at least had horns in it.

I'm with ya'll. I liked Beekeeper and It's the Beat from PSC's Axis III but I'm not seeing the significance of The Calm. As far as intro tracks go I'm underwhelmed.
Still haven't picked a favorite track yet and I'd say at this point they're all still in the running. I'll have to come back and vote when I nail it down.

I was hooked on Light At the End (track) before I even heard the song in its entirety, had that little riff stuck in my head for days and it felt wonderful to finally hear it.
This album is feels like a preview of whats to come...
so stoked for this weekend!

I liked Light at the End and Troublesome right away but I voted Oxygen cause I love the driving feel it has without being a typical "rock" song. I also just noticed that there arent really obvious horn solos like on other albums. Maybe they will add some for the live performances. Can't wait for the weekend!

I'm convinced that if you don't like the album at first, with time you'll grasp it as a great piece. I'm listening to a rd version of "hardest" for probably the 4th time tonight and I can still dig on it. The hype of just hearing about a new Rustic album is a lot to overcome, but I think once you really settle into it, you realize the feel and thus the greatness of the album. Don't go into it as "This is the new Rustic album." Go into is as "This is album is going to be great." You'll get it.
And if you ever start to doubt it...4 months ago did you ever expect to hear Carnival!? Come on!!!!
Life is good right about now.
JKM
Oh shit I forgot to even vote. Uhhhh....It is an amazing album as a whole. I vote for Carnival because it was most anticipated.

Ok, I ended up going with Light at the End. If you had told me when they announced this album that I'd be voting for anything but Carsick, I'd have laughed. Maybe it's just that I've gotten somewhat burned out on it from listening to the This is Rock 'n Roll version or the novelty of the new material but I really dig all the new tracks. I think I just really enjoy it for everything it represents for the band and the fans and all that. It's got the hard driving sound and energy that I first fell in love with, along with great lyrics and melody and it just feels like it's going to be an amazing live song. Plus I just enjoy the fact that it's "L.A.T.E.", but better late than never.

light at the end is fuckin good.
i think the horns were once again mixed too low.
but at the very end of light at the end, when it is just the horn section, i like the fact that you can hear them breathe in before they blast the notes. rawwwwww.

I'm going to have to go with Light at the End for my favorite. Just a fantastic mix of classic Rustic as well as a new feeling for a new beginning. Plus, it really wraps up the album well. the whole album tells a story of tough times, and light of the end (and then of course, happy) brings out out knowing that better times are ahead, just like for the band itself I hope.
honorable mention to Dear Mr. President and Rock Like War.

Good god, no love for "Rock Like War?" I know that there are a lot of amazing songs on the CD, but Rock Like War just has to be my favorite. I love the heavy first part and how it just seamlessly transitions into the second part. My other two favorites are probably "Light at the End" and "Oxygen."

This should be played at high volume, preferably in a residential area...

I remember hearing "Carsick" from a demo tape Rustic Overtones put out many years ago (released the demo tape before "Viva Nueva" was released). I really like that song. "Rock Like War" and "Light at the End" are also great. "Light at the End", I think, signifies the reforming of Rustic Overtones, and how special their relationship is. I thank God they are back together. Since their finale at the State Theater, the world just has not been the same. Welcome back fellas!

I'd like to officially change my vote from Troublesome to Light at the End. After listening to LATE many times, that song has really grown on me and become my favorite. Hardest Way Possible is still my least favorite, and gets skipped every time now...
I also find it interesting that everyone was so psyched about the inclusion of Happy, and yet as of this post, there have been no votes for it as the favorite.

I never saw what everyone else did in Happy. It's fine, but probably one of my less favorite songs. I would have rather they went with Last Night's Band or Break the News. Mind you, I'm not complaining. I've listened straight through about ten times, and still love the whole album. Still really digging Oxygen.

Carsick makes me shake my booty, hands down. I also love Rock Like War--lyrically, I think it's one of the best songs on the album.

All the songs on the new CD are epicly awesome- the light at the end really did sound like a light at the end should. Loved it.

I like the version of Rock Like War that they used to play live much better than the recorded version. It is a good song but I am not crazy about the second half of it in its present form. The one thing that is cool about it is the fact that it is a chance to get the crowd involved in the live shows.

I think Carsick definitely takes the cake however beautifully orchestrated Light at the End is...I think Carsick has more of that original rustic soul mostly because it seems like that song was the bands message to itself and knowing it's limitations and you gotta be patient so it was more personal. We are all human and we all get irritable. (at least that's what I got from it) I played RoomsbtH for a guy at work and he was picking out all your influence, it was kinda cool cause he ended up ranging all kinds of late 80's w/ 90's and there's the stuff I can hear in it that he can't because it's still out of our generation. Way to really take all you can get out of whats been, whats becoming, and I think you are the first of whats to be and will bring the actual musicians and the talent back to the music industry. Please keep making music forever... there's really not much else great to listen to or especially see live except the older legends of rock. You probably shouldn't rerecord Hardest Way anymore as it's never going to get any better then the original. The original will always be the best as far as I'm concerned. You should make a longer version of Revolution AM or Gas on Skin as they are over too quickly and I love those freakin' songs. In VN it seems like the greatest things you were onto were the last on your mind...if that makes any sense. You made Valentine's Day Massacre really long and it was a cool style you had going but that's the kinda song that should have taken some cutback as it really wasn't that packed w/ lyrics or anything and usually gets skipped after a min. Anyhow that album should have kicked much more ass than it did(as far as sales and making you a household name). It was no Long Division or RbtH but let's see there's C'mon, Love Underground, Combustible, Man Without a Mouth and plenty more catchy songs that I thought would have made more of an impression. All I know is it's been an amazing effort every round by you guys and you ROCK! Just my two cents.
