So I'm sure by now some of you have heard of Flobots and/or their hit single "Handlebars."
Well, the first few times I heard it I couldn't decide how I felt about it. My friend said that he "didn't dislike it," and I thought that was a good way to put it. I checked out a few other tracks of theirs on youtube, and liked what I heard. I got the CD and have had it in my car pretty much since.
It's weird. I'm not much of a fan of hip hop, nor much of a fan of heavily political music, but I really dig these guys and they're much of both. I've tried to describe them to friends as though incubus had zach de la rocha (from Rage) write their lyrics. I can't really put my finger on it, but I love the instrumental foundations that their beats are based on, instead of just drum & bass like a lot of rap stuff. It's good structurally and lyrically as well.
Anyway! I was going to post these guys up months ago but never did. I do now, because they've got 2 shows coming up in the Northeast.. well, 3, but one in Cambridge is sold out.
