Give the Asylum box office a ring, they'll have the info for you. I'd imagine Bullmoose will have ticket in the next week or so and the show is listed on the Asylum site now so tix should start showing up soon.

I just bought a ticket at Bullmoose. I heard on CYY that the Leftovers and Cambiata are opening.

Tony posted on the RO myspace blog about tonight's show: blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=187427640&blogID=441699528PREVIEW of ASYLUM TONIGHT! and more...
Hello again, Sorry. I know I said I'd be doing more of these and I actually have with a couple of road journals. But they got away from me one way or another. That said, New York was a good trip a couple weeks back. Played a couple of decent shows and met a pretty cool band from Around Chicago called "Back yard tire fire". We split a couple couple cases of cold beer with those boys and basically tailgated with them all night around our vans.. Good dudes.
Following that, was last week at Stone Mt. which was one of our favorite shows we've ever played. The stone mountain arts center is an INCREDIBLE venue run by a very kind and artist friendly staff. Those of you who were at the show know what a special night of music it was, and those who were not will have to wait, just like us, until we get to go back..
This brings us to tonights show.. If you are already planning on being there then you will be made verry happy fans tonight. If not, then you should change your plans and get out for it. Here's why..
1.) This will be Nigels first Portland appearance with us as the "new guy" ... it's NOT his first show however. We've done a handfull of shows with him out of state and he is fitting the chemistry of the band extremely well. Beyond that I think he's brought a whole new element to the band and we've been collectively feeding off that. We've had a long week of writing and rehearsing with Nigel and truly, we have found "another gear" this week!! On that note......
2.) OLD and NEW music will be plentiful tonight.. As I said the writing/rehearsing process has been going crazy well and tonight will be the first ever live performance of at least one brand new song called "The smallest spark" as well as several die hard classics that haven't been played since being back.. I dont wanna give away any surprises but one involves a rouge tinted color and another, a weather forecast. But thats as much as your getting out of me for right now.. Add to that a fairly "long division" heavy setlist and some "rarely heard live" tracks sprinkled around for good measure and you have.. As promised, a first, tiny glimpse into what should be a huge comeback year for us..
3.) The Cambiata AND the leftovers are oping the show.. Two of our favorite local Bro's on the same night will make for a killing triple bill.. It's great to finally have the leftovers on a show with us. Awesome guys and one of the last "true" young punk rock bands that exsist our town or elsewhere. Show up early and make these band's feel welcome!!
Our set list is about 25-27 songs deep i think, so this will be a long night of rocking with all of you. We're looking forward to all of you meeting Nigel and can't wait to play this set of music. One of my personal favorite sets in a long time and who knows maybe we'll see an old friend before the nights finished... Now go get your tix and tell a friend.. The comeback begins tonight!! Dont miss it.. Unless of course you dont live near Portland, Maine, we'll deal with you all some other night..
See you out there,
t and RO oh how I wish I lived a tad closer to portland. 25-27 songs?! And old stuff? And NEW stuff? I envy those in attendance

Good God please tell me someone is taping this show. If I didn't have to work until midnight I'd drive up from CT right now. Pink Belly? For real?
Damn.

These are my thoughts exactly (if you replace CT with VT). If I wasn't working tonight and tomorrow night I'd be calling one of my buddies in NH for a place to crash and heading to Portland. Should be an amazing show, can't wait to at least hear all about it. Good of Tony to give us the lowdown.

By the way, it's fair to assume the "rouge tinted color" tune is Pink Belly (which is indeed awesome) but what's the one about a weather forecast? Fake Face maybe? Great, now I'm running through every lyric in my head that has anything at all to do with weather. Doesn't matter I guess, all will be revealed once someone gets back on here and posts the setlist.
I know we'd all appreciate any and all details from folks who have the privilege of attending.
Man, it really is going to be an epic set...I hate my job.

The "rouge tinted color" was Red Afternoon, first song of the set. The "weather forecast" was Weatherman (break the news), started with a long keyboard and bass intro. Very excited to hear this song! The new song, Smallest spark was very good, very catchy riff. The crowd didn't seem to care for these songs too much, not a lot of applause. I didn't get a set list, but here is what I remember, not in the right order: Red Afternoon Long Division *Pop Trash, with no solo at the end, into *Feast Or Famine Hardest Way Possible Iron Boots *C'mon Gas On Skin Love underground Crash Landing Smallest Spark Weather Man Baby Blue Combustible *Rock Like War Troublesome Oxygen Car Sick Light At The end *Encore Very set long, they finished shortly after 1 and started a little after 11. Spencer was there, he didn't play. He hung out at the sound board, and seemed to have a ok time. Jim Begley was doing sound for Rustic, instead of the regular "house" engineer.

Also I have plenty of extra space here so anyone needing a place to crash for a Portland show just PM me and we'll make it happen. Whether I can make the show or not. I think Derek and Jeff both have my number as well. Now I am just bummed.

Also, Tony was singing some of the parts that Spencer use to sing, and he has grown himself a fine lookin' mustache.

I'm so glad you posted a set list, because I couldn't remember all of the songs!! Not much I can add here, except to say again that the show was awesome...high energy and the guys really seemed to be enjoying themselves. Jon and Nigel would get into a funked out groove together that was fun to hear and watch. Although I will always miss Spencer, the vibe with Nigel is ELECTRIC , and the crowd gave him a warm welcome, which I was happy to see. He is one talented dude, and I'm glad he's aboard!!! The crowd was CRAZY though....drunk and pissy with each other....a few fights and people having to be removed by security. My back was covered in beer by the end of it, and some very drunk guy behind me seemed to think that my ass was up for grabs, but besides all that.... GOOD TIMES....I loved The Smallest Spark and they played POP TRASH which made my night. The whole time I was wishing for a camera that took good quality video so I could share it here! Rachel, you should have taken a birthday trip! ~D

I also went. I will echo the statements made. I actually thought that Weatherman was really badass. I was iffy on Smallest Spark. I think half of the reason that people couldn't really get into the new songs is that while the band was rocking, it was just hard to pick up the lyrics with the noise level. For me personally it's like I really want to just focus on the new tune, so I can't get into rocking out. The crowd was idiotic and I felt like every d-bag in the house made it his mission to stand directly in front of me. I also saw a guy spark a bowl in the middle of the crowd. Did I accidentally go to a Phish concert? I think the Band is really concerned with the crowd accepting Nigel, but really, there are no concerns. He's dynamite. Absolutely dynamite. I love the energy he brings and the band clearly feeds off him. I do kind of miss Spence's vocals though. Couldn't hear tony very well. On Pop Trash there was no call and answer in the chorus, just like with the Ithaca recording. Despite being a hometown crowd, nobody filled in. Also, another failed attempt at C'mon. I couldn't believe that portland crowd would hideously botch that. People were pretty drunk though. Other notes: The Strings were there and really good On some songs, a second trombone and sax player played with the horns. led to a bigger, badder sound, I liked it especially on light at the end. Long Division had a new groove to it. really fun, some extra percussion on it. Also, whether on purpose or not, Dave switched verses two and three. I think he botched it No Simple Song, despite everybody's clamoring. Oh well, nothing's perfect! Red Afternoon was VERY solid. John played upright bass on baby blue and the song was incredible. Zoidis played an extended solo and it was perfect. Finally, Tony, if you're reading this...you are the greatest drummer I have ever seen. Ever. You're just a master. However, that mustache is the most awful mustache I've ever seen. You look like Cocheese from the Beastie Boys Sabotage video, only like even more of a sleazy, greasy guy who tries to pickup high school girls. I mean, I love it, but it's also hideous, if that makes sense. it was worth the two hour drive to Portland!

I wish I'd been there too, but with the way the crowd was it sounds like I'd have been spending a lot of time swearing and/or kicking people. Thanks for the kind thoughts, though. D.
Tony's mustache is truly horrifying. I'm glad someone agrees with me.
No taping, pics or vids? Anyone?

;D.... i just have to say ... i loved the show esp with nigel .. .. dont think i've ever seen dave soo happy while playing .. it was nice to see the chemistry that he brings and the smiles ... it was refreshing .... i was counting on that huge set list as hinted @, as i can never get enough of rustic ...... but i'm not going to complain ... the crowd on the other hand .. was less than to be dersired .. i still have bruises on my arm from a security guard ..(who was kindly removing a saturated fan) .. but thats what you get when your up front ... as for tony's mustache .. i like it .... who cares what we think anyway ... kind of magnum p.i. .. in a good way .... i was looking forward to the chocolate church ..... but the h.s. will do just fine .... till then ....
