Just posting the Rustic-related bits out of respect. You're the man J! Thanks for keeping us all in the loop and I'm looking forward to hearing any and everything you've got in store for us.
"It's Monday night as I'm writing. I am currently in the studio. More accurately, I'm in our practice space/home studio in Portland. Currently on deck is "Like The Blues" and strings are being added to it. Angela is here, along with some other professional string players (Heather, Julia, and Tim) and the usual cast of inbred circus freaks. Dave, Jon and Tony did basic tracking on a song with a killer (working) song title, "Woman vs. Machine". When I left the studio today, there was much discussion about adding double bass but fortunately Gutter and Jon put the kibosh on that. I should clarify. Not a string bass, but the dreaded Lars Ulrich-influenced double bass drums.
The other night I was in the studio tracking horns for "The Smallest Spark". I played flute and bari. There were nine (!) horn players on this session. And strings. I guess you can say we're aiming for sounding like the Love Unlimited Orchestra. Less is not more. More is more. Steven Tyler once said that anything worth doing is worth overdoing.
More on RO--Many of you know we have a new keyboardist, Nigel Hall. I am still excited by having him here. It's like having George Duke, Jimmy Smith and Herbie Hancock at the same time in your band. He LOVES being in Rustic, and has made a major splash so far with us and with our fans. Nigel is a bona fide genius, and that's not hyperbole. I felt that way when he emerged on the scene three or four years ago. His keyboard playing is so spot-on and complimentary, whether he's singing solo ro playing with us. We've also bonded since he's been around--An all-around good guy.
Rustic is definitely busy. A new RO album, a new PSC album, solo efforts by Dave, Tony......I was thinking....A wild idea....A J. Ward solo album.....thoughts?"
