Picking up on a discussion from the Rustic Overtones forum..
Compression: I use VirtualDub to get an AVI down from 100s of MB to a file <100 mb to make it easier to post to Youtube.
video > compression > (Pick your codec, I use DivX)
THEN..
Hit F7.. same as FILE > SAVE as AVI
Presto.
Anyone else? Tips?

Virtualdub's a phenomenal program, easily the best video editing software that's been released for free (and coded by amateurs). For most of my video editing I use Adobe Premiere Elements 4, which actually has a feature that compresses whatever you're editing in the timeline and uploads straight to youtube under any account that you sign into. The feature predates youtube's HD quality uploading option, but its still highly useful and the quality's still good.
