Did anyone end up going to this? I didn't check my email yesterday and might have actually made the drive over to Portland if I had known about it. I hope someone made it and can give us a report, it must have been a hell of a time.

Wow, so jealous of anyone who got to see this. Just thinking about the set is fun, would have loved to hear Dave do "Something Fierce". Anymore details or thoughts are welcome Crayons.

I have a recording, but haven't even had time to download the file yet. I'll share it eventually. I saw someone else there with a better set up than my little H2 taping also. Don't know who it was. I drove up from CT and back home that night.
Spencer's covers were all pretty straightforward. He played some keys some guitar. Dave got pretty creative with his covers. Spencer remarked that they didn't tell each other what songs they were playing beforehand, and there were times when he didn't know what the song was until Dave started singing. Jon played bass and keys for Dave. Zach Jones jumped in with Spencer for one song. I didn't know all the other musicians, but here is what Spencer listed on Facebook:
Dave's band is Dave Gutter Jon Roods Dan Capaldi Trent Gay
Spencer's band is Spencer Albee Dominic Lavoie Sean Morin Chris Dow Stu Mahan
There was a good amount of time as they switched between songs, so they ran out of time. After Something Fierce, Dave said to stick around for the "Super All-Star Jam" but then Empire staff kicked everyone out. I guess they have to close at 1 am. One funny thing was that both guys had all the lyrics written out on notebook paper. Spencer commented that Dave's lyrics are too complicated and that he writes too many.
All in all a very cool show. I've always wished they would do something like this, my two favorite musicians playing each others' songs. I feel very fortunate to have been able to make it to this show.

the other taper was my little bro - he was running AT-853s. I unfortunately was out of town but will try to get it from him and up here. I'm very anxious to hear it myself.

I've got 2 out of 3 files so far from my bro. Sounds sweet. I'm converting rustic @ the dise from 3/20 now. Then I have a Matt Nathanson show to do. Possibly get to this by sun if I get the last file.. but don't hold your breath

Thanks so much for posting these MP3s! I missed this clash and thought it would be lost fovever like so many others. I've done two clashes that I never got to hear again because I can't locate any recordings. I was part of the group that did the Mike Patton songs (this recording exists but I can't get anyone off their ass to get it to me) and I also did John Lennon songs with Dave during the McCartney vs Lennon clash. This was Gutter vs. Albee as well only doing Lennon and McCartney tunes. Does anyone know if that was ever recorded? Another one I would love to hear again is when Gutter did Tom Waits tunes.
