Anyone have any info on this? They're obviously continuing on, as they have a bunch of jan/feb dates lined up. I'll be in Worcester this Friday and am very interested to see who is behind the drum kit...

Gary Gementi will be taking up the drums in Ton'ys absence. I don't know who he is, but I know he's the replacement.

thanks, RG. just did a quick search and this is what i found (written sometime in 2009)...
Gary Gemmiti has been playing drums professionally for 25 years. He has toured with various groups and is currently active as a freelance musician in Maine and Southeast New Hampshire. Gary is a regular at the Press Room in Portsmouth NH with pianist Larry Garland. [Editor's note: Gary has one problem: modesty. He is one of New Englands best drummers in the Steve Grover mold: extremely talented, unassuming, underrated, BLENDS IN, and makes the rest of the band sound great. Isn't that what a rhythm section is all about?]
sounds good to me! looking forward to hearing him... even though i'm reallllllllllly going to miss tony's drumming.

The Love Underground? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
First Spencer left, now Tony, now a name change. This is starting to remind me of that time when someone got the bright idea to get rid of the horns. My spidey sense detects the beginning of the end. Is the State Theater booked for May 11th yet?

"The Love Underground? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard."
who really cares though? it's just a name, and i really don't think they're officially changing it. at the show on friday (lucky dog- worcester) dave said they're still going to be billed as rustic and they will practice as rustic, but when they get together onstage, with the fans in attendance, they are the love underground.
i actually came in here to give a quick run down of the lucky dog show on friday. it was fucking show great! nothing out of the ordinary as far as the setlist (hitman & arizona were about the only 2 songs that don't show up regularly in setlists). i was really digging the way they incorporated more keyboards into the sound. i know they were doing that last year, and maybe my memory just isn't that good, but it seemed to be much more of a focus on friday.
combustible had a nice little "jam" section during the bridge right before the final chorus. must have gone on for a good 3-4 minutes, with zoidis (on keys) and the new drummer, gary, really feeding off each other... there was another "jam" somewhere in the show too (light at the end, iirc), that sounded really cool. sorry for the lack of good description (i suck at describing music) but it made for a bit of a heavier sound.
the new drummer, gary, is pretty incredible. of course, it's a bit different style than tony, and i miss some of the standard tony fills in certain songs, but i'm looking forward to hearing more of gary. the band, zoidis in particular, really seemed to be enjoying listening to and playing with him (especially during combustible).
oh, and they also played a new song "let's start a cult." not sure if they've played that one before. short, upbeat, catchy...my first impression was that it sounded like a psc song. i'm looking forward to hearing more of it (and additional new material hopefully)
